The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has launched a specialised online Postgraduate Certificate Programme in Building AI-Powered Business Applications, aimed at working professionals looking to strengthen their skills in artificial intelligence and its business applications.
The programme is designed for professionals working in areas such as technology, data analysis and product management. It combines technical AI training with business-focused applications, allowing participants to develop skills that can be applied to real-world organisational challenges.
The course duration will range from six to 11 months, depending on the specialisation selected. Classes will be conducted live online, with most sessions scheduled on weekends to make the programme suitable for professionals continuing with their regular jobs.
The curriculum covers several emerging areas, including machine learning, generative AI, large language models (LLMs), natural language processing (NLP) and predictive business analytics. Participants will also gain practical experience through capstone projects, case studies and AI development platforms.
The programme is structured around four major areas: AI and machine-learning foundations, generative AI and LLMs, enterprise AI deployment, and AI strategy and governance. Topics include Python, prompt engineering, RAG architecture, cloud-based AI deployment, MLOps, ethical AI and AI transformation strategies.
The programme will be delivered by IIT Roorkee faculty members and industry AI experts. Candidates who successfully complete the course will receive a Postgraduate Certificate from IIT Roorkee, along with executive alumni membership of the institute.
The initiative comes as demand for AI and data-driven skills continues to grow across industries, providing working professionals with an opportunity to upgrade their technical expertise without taking a break from their careers.
