Mumbai University Launches Apprenticeship-Linked B.E. Programme

Mumbai University has introduced a new Apprenticeship Embedded B.E. Degree Programme (AEDP), aimed at giving engineering students hands-on industry experience alongside their academic studies.

The programme, launched under the Faculty of Science and Technology, is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and AICTE guidelines. Up to 15% of final-year B.E. students will be eligible to participate.

Students must have a minimum 6.75 CGPA in the fifth semester, with selection based on merit. Those pursuing Honours, Minor or Honours with Research programmes will not be eligible.

Selected students will undertake a one-year apprenticeship during the seventh and eighth semesters, completing at least 1,260 hours of practical training and earning 42 academic credits.

The university said the initiative will help students apply classroom knowledge to real-world industry projects while developing professional skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making and time management.

The programme is intended to make engineering graduates more industry-ready and employable by combining academic learning with practical workplace experience.
