The Delhi High Court has sought responses from the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) on a petition challenging the decision to re-conduct the UGC-NET June 2026 examination for English.
The petitioner has argued that the re-test decision was arbitrary, unreasonable and procedurally unfair, claiming that the reasons and material behind the decision were not adequately disclosed. The plea also seeks processing of the results from the original examination and a refund of the examination fee if the re-test is conducted.
NTA had decided to re-conduct the English and Commerce papers on September 9 and Sociology on September 10 after an expert committee identified several factual, typographical, translation and grammatical errors, along with repeated questions in the papers. Candidates appearing for the re-test will not have to pay an additional examination fee.
The matter is scheduled for further hearing on October 6.
