In a major administrative overhaul following the NEET-UG paper leak controversy, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has terminated the services of 47 officials as part of an internal crackdown aimed at restoring confidence in the country’s entrance examination system. According to official sources, the agency is also preparing to initiate legal and criminal proceedings against some of the dismissed officials, signalling a zero-tolerance approach towards misconduct and irregularities.
Sources indicate that these actions are only the first phase of a broader reform initiative within the NTA. The agency is expected to introduce several additional measures in the coming months to strengthen accountability, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the security of national-level examinations.
In a parallel development, the Ministry of Education has launched a recruitment drive to appoint experienced professionals at the General Manager level. The new appointments will oversee critical functions, including exam operations, test centre management, information security, vigilance, and administrative coordination, with the objective of ensuring a more transparent, secure, and efficient examination process.
The reforms come in the wake of widespread criticism and public concern following the NEET-UG paper leak, which raised serious questions about the integrity of India’s competitive examination system. Through these measures, the government aims to rebuild public trust, strengthen institutional accountability, and prevent similar incidents in the future.
