The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela is set to hold its 24th convocation on September 12, 2026, with degrees to be conferred on 2,033 students from undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. The ceremony will be held at the Bhubaneswar Behera Auditorium on the institute campus.
According to the details released by NIT Rourkela, the graduating batch includes 1,525 male and 508 female students. Women account for around 25 per cent of the total degree recipients, while men constitute approximately 75 per cent of the graduating cohort.
Academic Achievements to Be Recognised
The convocation will also honour students who have demonstrated outstanding academic, research, extracurricular and all-round achievements. The institute has announced several gold medals, endowment awards and branch topper awards for meritorious students across different programmes.
Awards include recognition for the best postgraduate students, best undergraduate graduate, best projects, PhD thesis, branch toppers and outstanding all-round performance. The institute will also recognise achievements in areas such as research and sports.
Convocation Schedule
The institute has scheduled the main convocation ceremony for 10 am on September 12. Graduands were required to complete registration on September 11, followed by a compulsory rehearsal at 2:30 pm on the same day. NIT Rourkela has stated that participation in the rehearsal is mandatory for students receiving their degrees at the ceremony.
Students unable to attend the ceremony will be able to access their digital degree certificates through DigiLocker from September 13, while hard copies will be sent by post.
The 24th convocation marks a significant milestone for the 2026 graduating batch, as students from diverse disciplines prepare to move into professional careers, higher studies and research.
