The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has launched ANUGYAN – Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme (NTOP), India’s first industry-academia programme dedicated to nuclear technology. The initiative has been introduced in collaboration with Crimson Energy Experts Private Limited (CEEPL) to develop a skilled workforce for India’s rapidly expanding civil nuclear energy sector.
The programme was officially inaugurated on the IIT Hyderabad campus and marks a significant milestone in strengthening the country’s capabilities in nuclear engineering education, clean energy technologies, and workforce development. ANUGYAN is a three-month fully residential programme designed for engineering graduates, industry professionals, PSU executives, EPC contractors, and industrial equipment manufacturers who aspire to build careers in the nuclear sector.
The curriculum combines IIT Hyderabad’s academic expertise with the practical knowledge of senior nuclear professionals from CEEPL, providing participants with both classroom learning and real-world industrial exposure. The programme covers a wide range of specialised subjects, including reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, radiation safety, engineering design, quality assurance, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), AERB regulatory compliance, and simulator-based training.
One of the key objectives of ANUGYAN is to prepare professionals for India’s ambitious nuclear energy expansion plans. The country aims to increase its nuclear power generation capacity from approximately 8.8 GWe to 100 GWe by 2047, creating a growing demand for highly trained engineers and technical experts. The programme seeks to bridge this skill gap by equipping participants with industry-relevant knowledge and practical experience.
Apart from technical training, the programme will also provide participants with valuable insights into modern nuclear engineering practices and emerging technologies. It is expected to create new career opportunities across nuclear power plants, engineering firms, research organisations, manufacturing industries, and the country’s expanding nuclear supply chain.
Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will receive a joint certification from IIT Hyderabad and Crimson Energy Experts Private Limited, enhancing their professional credentials and employability in the nuclear energy sector.
The launch of ANUGYAN reflects IIT Hyderabad’s commitment to promoting advanced technology education and supporting India’s vision of achieving greater self-reliance in clean energy and nuclear innovation.
