The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD – Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) has opened applications for the Young Ambassador Programme 2027, inviting students who have previously studied or completed an academic project in Germany to apply. The programme aims to create a network of student ambassadors who will guide and inspire Indian students interested in pursuing higher education and research opportunities in Germany.
According to the official schedule, the application window will remain open until September 30, 2026. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official DAAD website by completing the eligibility checklist and providing their personal and academic details.
The DAAD Young Ambassador Programme is a two-semester volunteer initiative designed to develop leadership, communication, and mentoring skills among former DAAD beneficiaries and students with academic experience in Germany. Before beginning their ambassadorial role, selected candidates will participate in a mandatory orientation and training programme, where they will receive detailed information about Germany’s higher education system, research ecosystem, DAAD scholarships, exchange programmes, and funding opportunities.
As part of the programme, DAAD Young Ambassadors will work closely with the study abroad or international relations offices of their respective universities to promote higher education opportunities in Germany. Their responsibilities will include participating in education fairs, organising information sessions, conducting classroom presentations, leading campus outreach activities, and sharing their personal experiences of studying in Germany with prospective applicants.
The ambassadors will also mentor students interested in pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, or research programmes in Germany by helping them understand admission procedures, scholarship opportunities, academic life, and career prospects. Through these interactions, they will play a key role in strengthening educational collaboration between India and Germany.
The initiative provides selected participants with an opportunity to build leadership and public-speaking skills while contributing to the internationalisation of higher education. By engaging directly with aspiring students, the programme aims to increase awareness about Germany as a preferred destination for quality higher education, research, and academic exchange.
Students who meet the eligibility criteria and have previously studied or undertaken academic projects in Germany are encouraged to complete their applications before the September 30, 2026 deadline.
