15,000+ Engineering Seats Vacant; CSAB Special Counselling Begins
Engineering aspirants who could not secure admission through JoSAA 2026 still have another opportunity, as the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has started its Special Counselling 2026. A total of 15,423 seats remain vacant across 119 centrally funded engineering institutes after the completion of JoSAA counselling.
The vacant seats are available in 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs), 27 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), IIEST Shibpur, and 60 Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Admissions will be offered based on candidates’ JEE Main 2026 All India Rank (AIR). Eligible candidates who missed admission through JoSAA can participate in the CSAB Special Counselling process by registering online and filling their preferred institute and branch choices within the prescribed schedule.
