IIT Hyderabad Launches Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme for Engineers and Professionals
The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) has introduced a specialised Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme aimed at enhancing expertise in India’s expanding nuclear energy sector.
This three-month residential programme has been developed in collaboration with Crimson Energy Experts Private Limited and is designed for early and mid-career engineers, managers, consultants, and professionals from the energy and infrastructure domains. The course will commence on August 3 at the IIT Hyderabad campus.
The programme aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by offering in-depth knowledge of nuclear power technologies. The curriculum includes key subjects such as reactor physics, nuclear safety, radiation shielding, reactor engineering, waste management, instrumentation and control systems, along with advanced topics like Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
Officials from IIT Hyderabad stated that the initiative supports India’s growing focus on clean and sustainable energy, particularly nuclear power as a viable alternative to fossil fuels. The training will be delivered by IIT faculty members as well as experts from the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) organisations.
The institute highlighted that the programme is designed to develop a skilled workforce capable of supporting India’s long-term energy security and technological advancement goals.
