The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the procurement of 25 lakh tablets for students enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and skill-development programmes across the state.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening digital education and technology-enabled learning, enabling students to access online study materials, educational platforms and other digital resources more easily.
The tablet distribution programme is expected to benefit students pursuing higher education as well as those enrolled in skill-development and vocational programmes. The move is part of the state’s broader efforts to expand digital access and bridge technology gaps among students.
By providing tablets, the government intends to support students in their academic work and improve access to learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom. The initiative could also help students make greater use of online courses, digital libraries and other educational resources.
The decision is expected to give a further push to digital learning across Uttar Pradesh, particularly among students who may face difficulties accessing personal digital devices.
