CBSE Warns Schools Over Errors in Student Data

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed all affiliated schools to ensure that student information submitted for the 2027 board examinations is accurate, complete and thoroughly verified. The instruction comes after the Board identified repeated errors in student and subject data submitted by schools.

According to CBSE, incorrect information has resulted in avoidable delays and operational difficulties during the examination process. Errors in subject codes, student details and other records have also led to correction requests from schools after data was already submitted, affecting the Board’s ability to maintain examination timelines.

What Schools Need to Verify

CBSE has asked schools to keep updated records of important student details, including:

  • Full name of the student
  • Date of birth
  • Gender and category
  • Parent or guardian names with correct spellings
  • Subjects selected by the student
  • Subject-wise registration according to the scheme of studies
  • Photograph and signature in the prescribed format

The Board has particularly stressed that schools must verify these details before submitting the List of Candidates (LOC).

Registration and LOC Submission

CBSE said that important pre-examination activities for Classes 9 and 11 registration and Classes 10 and 12 LOC submission are scheduled to begin shortly. Schools have therefore been asked to prepare accurate and updated student records in advance.

The Board also flagged instances where schools failed to submit student details or LOC information within the prescribed timeline. Such delays can create additional administrative difficulties during the examination process.

CBSE Seeks Coordination From Schools

CBSE has called for better coordination and planning among schools as preparations for the 2027 Class 10 and 12 board examinations get underway. The Board said accurate student data is essential for conducting examinations smoothly and ensuring the timely declaration of results.

Schools have consequently been advised to check every candidate’s information carefully before final submission, as errors discovered later could lead to complications for both the Board and students.
