Swiss Government Scholarship Window to Open in August 2026 for International Students
Students aspiring to pursue higher education and research in Switzerland will soon have an opportunity to apply for the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for the 2027-28 academic year. The application process is scheduled to begin on August 20, 2026.
The scholarship programme, administered by the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS/ESKAS), is open to applicants from over 180 countries and offers opportunities for PhD studies, research fellowships and art master’s programmes.
According to the official details, selected candidates will receive financial support along with access to Switzerland’s advanced research ecosystem and academic mentorship. The programme covers a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, artificial intelligence, life sciences, environmental studies, economics, social sciences and the arts.
Candidates are advised to begin preparing essential documents such as academic transcripts, research proposals, recommendation letters and language proficiency certificates. Applications will be evaluated in early 2027, with final results expected by May 2027, while successful scholars are likely to begin their programmes from September 2027.
