The Punjab School Education Department has extended summer vacations for all government, aided, and private schools across the state till June 30, 2026, citing rising temperatures and ongoing heatwave conditions. The extended break will remain in effect from June 1 to June 30 as a precautionary measure to safeguard students’ health and well-being.
According to the official notification, the decision was taken in view of the increasing summer heat across Punjab and concerns over prolonged exposure to high temperatures. Authorities stated that the move aims to protect students from heat-related illnesses during the peak summer period.
The announcement comes as several parts of the country continue to experience extreme weather conditions, prompting multiple states to revise school schedules, extend vacations, or modify class timings. Punjab has joined a growing list of states taking precautionary measures in response to the ongoing heatwave.
Students, parents, and school authorities have been advised to follow official updates regarding reopening schedules and any further instructions issued by the state education department.
