IIT Madras, IISc, MAHE and US Consulate Launch Fellowship for American Researchers

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, in collaboration with the US Consulate General Chennai, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), has launched the U.S.-India TRUST Fellowship 2026-27 to bring American researchers to India for advanced research collaborations.

The 12-month fellowship is designed for PhD holders, post-doctoral researchers and early-career faculty from leading US institutions. The programme focuses on strengthening academic partnerships between India and the United States in strategic technology sectors. Applications for the fellowship are open until June 30, 2026.

According to the organisers, selected fellows will receive a comprehensive support package that includes a monthly stipend, accommodation, health insurance, round-trip airfare, research grants and visa assistance. Exceptional candidates may also be considered for a visiting faculty position at IIT Madras.

The fellowship will support research in key areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Semiconductors, Biotechnology, Defence, Energy and Space Technology, with the objective of promoting long-term innovation and academic exchange between the two countries.
