IIT Jodhpur Launches AI-Focused BS Programme

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur has launched a new Bachelor of Science (BS) in Management and Technology programme, aiming to prepare students for the rapidly evolving job market shaped by artificial intelligence (AI). The institute says the interdisciplinary programme has been designed to equip students with a unique blend of technological expertise and management skills, enabling them to adapt to future workforce demands.

According to IIT Jodhpur, the increasing adoption of AI and automation is transforming industries and reducing the number of traditional entry-level jobs. As a result, employers are now looking for professionals who possess not only strong technical knowledge but also leadership, decision-making, innovation, and business management capabilities.

The newly introduced BS programme integrates technology, management, and interdisciplinary learning, allowing students to develop a comprehensive understanding of both technical and business domains. The curriculum has been structured in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, offering flexibility for students to combine their core studies with subjects from other disciplines based on their interests and career aspirations.

IIT Jodhpur also highlighted that interactions with applicants for the inaugural batch reveal a growing preference among students for programmes that provide strong internship opportunities, industry exposure, practical learning, and better placement prospects. Keeping these expectations in mind, the institute has designed the programme to ensure graduates are industry-ready and capable of meeting the challenges of an AI-driven economy.

Officials believe the new course will help bridge the gap between technology and management while producing professionals who can lead innovation, manage emerging technologies, and contribute effectively across diverse sectors.

The launch of this programme reflects IIT Jodhpur’s commitment to aligning higher education with changing industry requirements and preparing students with future-ready skills for the next generation of careers.
