The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM Kozhikode) has launched DEEP LEAP, a dedicated incubation programme designed to support high-potential DeepTech startups across India. The initiative is being led by IIMK LIVE, the institute’s business incubator, in partnership with Walmart Global Tech as the founding industry partner.
The programme is aimed at startups that have already reached the prototype or Minimum Viable Product (MVP) stage. It will focus on emerging technology areas including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, quantum computing, robotics and autonomous systems, SpaceTech, aerospace, semiconductors and photonics.
Under DEEP LEAP, IIMK LIVE plans to engage with around 1,500 startups, from which 50 ventures will be selected for a 12-month incubation and acceleration programme. Selected startups will receive support in areas such as business strategy, product validation, go-to-market planning and investor readiness.
The programme has a proposed outlay of ₹2.89 crore, including ₹1.5 crore earmarked for seed funding support for selected startups. Participants will also get opportunities to connect with industry leaders, mentors and investors.
The programme will conclude with a Demo Day, where participating startups can showcase their innovations to investors and industry representatives. Through DEEP LEAP, IIM Kozhikode and Walmart Global Tech aim to strengthen connections between academia, industry, investors and India’s emerging DeepTech ecosystem.
