The Department of Psychology, Gauhati University has introduced a Certificate Course in Forensic Psychology, marking a significant step in expanding specialised education in the emerging field. The university stated that it is the first university in India to offer a dedicated certificate course in Forensic Psychology.
The inaugural session was welcomed by Prof. Rita Rani Talukdar, Head of the Department of Psychology and Course Coordinator, and formally inaugurated by Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University.
The programme featured insightful sessions by Dr. Keshav Kumar (Retd. IPS), Advisor to the Government of Assam, Department of Home and Political Affairs, and Mr. Dilip Dey (Retd. IPS), Joint Consultant to the Government of Assam. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Devanggona Lahkar, Teaching Associate, Department of Psychology.
