GATE 2027 Registration Gets New Dates

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 registration process has been postponed, with the application portal now scheduled to open on August 27, 2026. The registration was earlier expected to begin on August 14.

The revised schedule has been announced by IIT Madras, the organising institute for GATE 2027. The examination is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the IITs on behalf of the National Coordination Board, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education.

GATE 2027 Registration: Revised Dates

As per the updated schedule, candidates will have additional time to complete their applications.

  • Registration begins: August 27, 2026
  • Last date for regular registration without late fee: September 27, 2026
  • Last date with late fee: October 5, 2026

The deadline for regular registration has therefore been extended from September 21 to September 27, while the late-fee registration window has been extended from September 30 to October 5.

GATE 2027 Examination Dates

The postponement affects the registration timeline, but several other important dates remain unchanged.

The city allotment notification is scheduled to be released on January 4, 2027. The GATE 2027 examination will be conducted on multiple dates — February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027.

Candidates appearing for the examination should regularly check the official GATE portal for updates regarding the application process, examination details and admit card.

GATE 2027 Result Date

The GATE 2027 result is scheduled to be announced on March 19, 2027. Candidates who qualify may use their GATE scores for postgraduate admissions, recruitment opportunities and other academic or professional purposes, depending on the eligibility criteria of the respective institutions or organisations.

With the registration portal opening on August 27, GATE aspirants are advised to keep their required documents and application details ready and complete the registration process within the revised deadlines.
