Free Textbooks Reach Assam Flood-Affected Students

The Government of Assam has begun the distribution of free textbooks to students affected by the recent floods in Charaideo, Sivasagar, and parts of Jorhat. The first batch of textbooks was flagged off from the Assam State Textbook Production and Publication Corporation Ltd. (ASTPPC) warehouse at Bonda, Guwahati.

Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, ASTPPC expedited the printing process to ensure that students receive their textbooks without delay and their education is not disrupted.

In the first phase, a total of 1,41,719 textbooks have been dispatched for 1,12,843 students, against an overall requirement of 8,98,231 textbooks for flood-affected areas.

The government has assured that the distribution drive will continue until every affected student receives the required textbooks, helping them resume their studies as quickly as possible.

The initiative reflects the state’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted education for students even during natural disasters.
