India Strengthens Nepal’s Education Infrastructure

A new India-funded college building has been inaugurated in Nepal’s Sudurpaschim Province, while the foundation stone for a new school building has also been laid under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) programme supported by the Government of India.

The newly inaugurated Kedar Surya Multiple Campus in Doti district was constructed with Indian financial assistance and features a two-storey building with 14 classrooms and allied facilities. The institution, affiliated with Tribhuvan University, offers Bachelor of Education (BEd) and Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) programmes.

In a separate event, the foundation stone for a new building at Shree Maheshwar Secondary School in Kanchanpur district was laid. The project is being developed with financial assistance of around NPR 19 million under the HICDP programme.

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu stated that the initiative reflects the strong development partnership between India and Nepal, supporting education, healthcare, community infrastructure, and socio-economic development across the neighbouring country.

Since its launch in 2003, the HICDP programme has supported nearly 600 development projects across Nepal.
