CBSE Sets Dates For Practical Exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released detailed guidelines for conducting the Class 12 Supplementary Practical Examinations 2026. According to the board, the practical examinations will be held from July 29 to August 4, 2026, and students must report to their respective schools by July 27, 2026 to complete the necessary formalities before the examinations begin.

The supplementary practical examinations are meant for students who have been placed in the compartment category. These include candidates who could not clear the practical examination in the main board exams as well as those who failed to secure the required passing marks in both the theory and practical components of a subject.

CBSE has clarified that students classified under the Repeat in Practical (RP) category will only be required to appear for the practical examination. Their previously obtained theory marks will remain valid, and they will not have to reappear for the theory paper.

However, students whose marksheets mention Repeat in Theory and Practical Both (RB) must appear for both the supplementary theory and practical examinations. Only after successfully clearing both components will they be considered to have passed the subject.

The board has directed schools to make all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examinations within the prescribed schedule. Schools have also been instructed to strictly follow CBSE’s operational guidelines to ensure fairness, transparency, and timely completion of the supplementary practical examinations.

The supplementary examination provides an important opportunity for Class 12 students to improve their academic record and continue their higher education without losing an academic year. Students have been advised to stay in touch with their schools, complete all documentation on time, and carefully follow the examination schedule released by CBSE.
