Maharashtra Ends Institutional Admission Rounds

Maharashtra Ends Institutional Admission Rounds

The Maharashtra government has abolished institutional rounds for undergraduate medical and dental admissions in private colleges. From now on, all admissions, including stray vacancy seats, will be conducted only through the State CET Cell’s Centralised Admission Process (CAP).

The move aims to make the admission process more transparent and fair, ending the practice of private colleges conducting separate admission rounds after CAP counselling.

To prevent seat blocking, candidates who are allotted a seat in the final CAP round but fail to join will be barred from undergraduate medical and dental admissions in Maharashtra for the next two academic years.

The revised rules are expected to improve transparency, ensure better seat utilisation, and provide equal opportunities to deserving medical aspirants.
