Meghalaya Approves St. Xavier’s University

The Meghalaya Cabinet has approved the establishment of St. Xavier’s University in the state, marking a significant step towards strengthening higher education and expanding academic opportunities for students.

As part of the decision, the Cabinet has approved the allotment of 50 acres of land at Mawkhanu at a concessional rate of approximately ₹1 lakh per hectare following detailed discussions with the university authorities.

The state government said the project is a long-term investment in the future of Meghalaya’s youth. Known for its legacy of academic excellence, St. Xavier’s University is expected to enhance higher and technical education, promote quality learning, and create new educational opportunities for students across Meghalaya and the Northeast.
