ASSEB Issues New Rules for HSLC 2026 Failed Students; Re-admission Mandatory

The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has announced that students who failed the HSLC Examination 2026 and wish to continue their studies must take re-admission to Class X to be eligible for future HSLC examinations.

According to the notification dated June 23, 2026, students can seek re-admission in their parent school or, if unavailable, in another school within the same examination centre. They will retain their existing registration number and may change their elective subject before the half-yearly examination.

Students must compulsorily appear in the Class X half-yearly examination, maintain regular attendance, and participate in remedial classes as directed by the school. Schools will also be responsible for conducting practical/internal assessments and submitting the marks to ASSEB.

The board has directed all schools to complete the re-admission process by August 14, 2026.
