The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organised a 45-minute interactive talkathon titled “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat”, bringing together students, educators and experts for an open discussion on substance-abuse prevention among young people.
The session focused on helping students understand the risks associated with substance use and encouraging them to seek timely support. Experts from psychiatry, narcotics control and school education addressed students’ questions and discussed ways to prevent substance abuse.
Key issues raised by students included mental health concerns, peer pressure and steps involved in de-addiction. The experts highlighted the importance of empathy, patient listening and non-judgmental support when helping young people facing such challenges.
The CBSE had invited questions from students through social media platforms ahead of the event. The interactive format allowed students to raise concerns directly and participate in a wider conversation about making healthy and responsible choices.
The initiative is part of CBSE’s efforts to promote awareness among students and encourage a supportive school environment. The board also pointed to the role of peer educators and counsellors in providing students with discreet support when needed.
The talkathon was conducted through social media platforms including X, Instagram and YouTube, making the discussion accessible to a wider student audience.
