Delhi Students to Create Reels on Civic Issues

The Directorate of Education, Delhi has launched the “Meri Seva, Mera Sankalp” reel-making competition as part of the month-long Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, running from September 17 to October 17, 2026. The initiative aims to encourage government school students to explore themes related to public service, civic responsibility, kindness and nation-building.

Under the reel-making competition, students can create short videos around themes including Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation), cleanliness, environmental protection, civic duties, helping elderly and vulnerable people, and respecting public property and national symbols. The initiative also seeks to encourage students to reflect on their contribution to society and the broader vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

The campaign also features drawing and speech competitions. The drawing competition will have two age categories — 5–12 years and 12–18 years — while the speech competition is open to students of Classes 10, 11 and 12, with participation permitted in Hindi or English.

The school-level competitions are scheduled from September 17 to October 17, followed by district-level competitions and exhibitions from October 8 to 10. The final state-level exhibition, competition and felicitation programme will be held on October 12 and 13.

Alongside the school competitions, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood launched the Seva-First Innovation Challenge 2026 at Delhi Technological University (DTU). The 100-day initiative is designed to provide young innovators with opportunities to work with entrepreneurs, start-up founders and industry leaders. It carries a ₹2 crore prize pool, along with mentorship and government support.

The innovation challenge will focus on areas such as agriculture, waste management, education and rural challenges. Participants will identify real-world problems, develop innovative ideas, build prototypes, seek validation and work towards practical implementation.

The programme will involve participants from universities, schools, ITIs, polytechnics, industries and start-ups across Delhi and several neighbouring states and Union Territories, including Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh and Ladakh.
