Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Shri T. K. Anil Kumar, highlighted the vision of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in promoting environmental awareness among school students.
He emphasised the importance of encouraging students to adopt practices such as recycling and reuse, scientific segregation and management of waste, and the proper disposal of waste and e-waste. The focus is on developing environmentally responsible habits among students from an early age.
Joint Secretary, DoSEL, Dr. Amarpreet Duggal, has also encouraged students from Classes 6 to 12 to participate in a quiz on “Solid Waste Management Rules 2026.”
The quiz will be conducted from September 17 to October 17, 2026, providing students with an opportunity to learn more about responsible waste management and environmental sustainability.
The initiative seeks to connect classroom learning with practical environmental practices and encourage young learners to contribute towards cleaner and more sustainable communities.
